Library Access and Services for AIT Alumni

AIT Library offers two types of access and services for alumni:

1. Alumni as Library Visitors – For alumni who occasionally visit the Library and do not need to borrow Library materials or request full-text articles.
2. Alumni Privilege Membership – For alumni who wish to borrow Library materials and request full-text articles through the Library.

1. Alumni as Library Visitors

Library Access

• Present your AIT Alumni Card at the Library entrance. If you do not have one, you may apply for an Alumni Card through the AIT Alumni Office.
• If you do not have an Alumni Card, present a valid identification card to Library staff. Your name will be checked against the Library database or AIT Alumni Directory to verify your alumni status.
• Once your alumni status has been verified, the Library will issue you a visitor card for Library access.

Entrance Fee: Free of charge.

Facilities and Services:

Alumni visitors may:

• Use the Library’s study areas and facilities.
• Browse the Library’s print collections.
• Search for Library materials through the AIT Library Website.
• Access and download subscribed electronic resources while physically present in the Library, subject to the applicable license agreements.

Limitations

Alumni visitors may not:

• Borrow Library materials.
• Use Group Study Rooms.
• Access subscribed online databases remotely or from off campus.
• Request full-text articles for off-campus use.

2. Alumni Privilege Membership

Required Documents and Deposit

Applicants must submit the following:

• One copy of an AIT Alumni Card or a valid identification card
• One recent photograph, required only for applicants who wish to obtain a Privilege Card for physical access to the Library; online-only members do not need to submit a photograph
• A letter of guarantee from the applicant’s employer, which must be renewed annually, or a copy of the applicant’s house registration showing their current address
• A refundable Library deposit of THB 2,000

The deposit will be refunded after the membership is cancelled. The original receipt must be submitted to the AIT Cashier to receive the refund.

Application Process

• Complete the AIT Library Privilege Card Application Form for Alumni Members
• Submit the completed form, required documents, and deposit.
• Receive an AIT Library Privilege Card.

Membership Duration

The membership is valid for one year and must be renewed annually. An updated letter of guarantee from the employer or a current copy of the member’s house registration is required for renewal.

AIT LIBRARY PRIVILEGE MEMBER BENEFIT

Library Facilities and Services:

• Access Fee: No library entrance fee
• Physical Library Access: from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., allowing you ample time to utilize our resources and study in a quiet and conducive environment.
• Book Loan Limit: You can borrow up to 3 items for 2 weeks.
• Maximum Book Renewal: Books can be renewed up to 4 times, provided they are not reserved by other members.

Online Database Access:

• Walk-in Access: Full access to our extensive range of online databases is available within the library premises.
• Off-campus Access: Members accessing Library resources from outside the AIT campus may search and view abstracts of available materials. For full-text access, please email the link(s) to the required resource(s) to library@ait.ac.th. Library staff will assist in providing the requested full text.
• To help us verify your membership status, kindly include your Membership ID in the subject line of your email (e.g., Subject: A-192 – Request for Full-Text Articles).

Additional Services:

• Interlibrary Loan Services: If you need materials not available in our collection, you can request them through our interlibrary loan service.
• Research Assistance: Our library staff is available to help with your research needs, including literature research and citation assistance
